Legal & Safety

Disclaimer & Disclosures

What this site is, how to use these notes safely, and standard boundaries around legal advice, FCC rules, hardware installations, and brand independence.

Personal Logbook

1. Educational & Logbook Purpose Only

WSNY332 is a personal notebook documenting my individual journey learning GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service). The write-ups, frequency charts, gear notes, and operating tips published here reflect personal experience and research. They are provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

Hardware & Installation

2. Electrical & RF Hardware Safety

Radio communications equipment involves electrical wiring, high-power transceivers (up to 50 watts ERP), vehicle battery fusing, outdoor antenna mast erection, and lightning grounding.

Before installing high-gain antennas, running coaxial feed lines, or wiring 13.8V DC power supplies, always consult official manufacturer manuals, local electrical codes, building regulations, and certified professionals. If an installation, grounding setup, or electrical project is outside your comfort level or technical capability, hire a certified electrician or professional radio technician. You assume full responsibility for your equipment installations and safety practices.

Not Legal Advice

3. Not Legal Advice (I Am Not an Attorney)

I am not an attorney or lawyer, and nothing published on WSNY332 constitutes legal advice.

GMRS operation in the United States is governed by the Federal Communications Commission under 47 CFR Part 95 Subpart E. While I make every effort to verify channel frequency assignments, power limits, call sign identification rules, and equipment certification grants (Part 95E approval), these notes reflect my personal interpretations and research as a hobbyist. No attorney-client relationship is created by using or reading this site.

You are solely responsible for your own radio operations, licensing, and compliance with FCC regulations and federal law. Always verify active rules directly at the official eCFR Part 95 Subpart E repository, or consult a licensed telecommunications attorney if you need legal counsel.

Brand Independence

4. Independence & Brand Disclosures

This site is independently operated under call sign WSNY332. It is not an official publication of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) or any individual radio manufacturer. All product names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Unless explicitly noted in an individual post, all gear notes, teardowns, and comparison write-ups reflect my personal hands-on experience and opinion.

Monetization & Disclosures

5. Affiliate Links & Sponsorship Disclosure

To help cover web hosting, domain maintenance, and out-of-pocket costs for purchasing radio gear to field-test and tear down, WSNY332 accepts optional supporter memberships (see the Support page) and participates in affiliate and referral programs (including BTECH and BaoFeng Radio).

Some pages, comparison guides, gear recommendation cards, and vendor links contain affiliate referral links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, I may earn a small referral commission at no additional cost to you.

Editorial Independence & Integrity: Affiliate relationships never dictate or influence editorial content, ratings, or test conclusions. I only write about and recommend gear I have evaluated, bench-tested, cross-checked against official FCC equipment authorization grants, or found genuine utility in. If a radio has quirks, locked features, or lacks advertised capabilities (such as missing AM demodulation or locked frequency bands), those flaws are documented plainly regardless of any affiliate relationship.
